Mini Toy Box in the Car

IMG_2381 We’re (DH, not me!) driving down the highway; I just happened to have my camera with me!

I keep a bucket in between the littles’ car seats. The bucket has books, small toys etc. in it so that they can easily reach them and entertain themselves when we are driving about. It has been a sanity-saver over and over!

John has recently discovered that if he takes everything out, he can wear it on his hat. The picture doesn’t do it justice since the photo doesn’t capture the sweet baby giggles coming from underneath that bucket.

This is daddy’s car. In my van, the bucket actually has a handle so I have it belted in to the seat belt. Safer (if we ever end up in a situation where we have to slam on brakes) and cleaner (it ensures that John doesn’t empty the bucket so he can wear it).

Ok, well this was going to be a Wordless Wednesday post but I think it has kind also evolved into a Works for Me post too. Hmmm. Interesting.

Question: What do you keep on hand or in the car to entertain while driving?

  1. That is hysterical! I can totally picture him giggling under his “hat”. My boys are older so they bring books and gameboys.

  2. We always bring a change of clothes for each child in a ziploc-type baggie (include socks and underwear). You can put the soiled clothing in the bag. You wouldn’t believe the number of times it was the oldest who needed it.

  3. Oh what a great idea! We also let our son grab something as he’s walking out the door, but it usually ends up on the floor before we even leave our driveway! Grr… most of the time a cute kids sing-a-long CD is all we need!
